Faith in Transition

People fail. God prevails.
— Psalm 23 Soap Ministry

Three months ago, my father was tragically killed. Less than two years earlier, my mother had an untimely death.

Both relationships were among the most challenging aspects of my life—complicated, to say the least—and both parents were extremely abusive in their own ways. Still, losing them was hard.

Grief can be tricky. You can acknowledge the pain someone caused and still mourn their death. You can grieve the person, the relationship, and even what you once hoped that relationship might become.

With the loss of my parents, I also experienced other important family relationships slipping away. Some I knew were unhealthy, but I held on because they were blood. Others I thought were solid, but turned out not to be.

Suddenly, I wasn't grieving only two people. I was grieving a family I thought I had and adjusting to a life that looked very different.

But in that emptiness, I began relying more deeply on my Heavenly Family.

I have a Heavenly Father who protects rather than harms. I have Jesus Christ, a Brother who willingly died for me rather than wishing me dead, betraying me, or tearing me down. Through the Holy Spirit, I am never abandoned or left to navigate this life alone.

God is real and trustworthy.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8

The grief is still real. But so is God. And through everything that has changed, I have learned to look to Him for the security, love, and belonging I once looked for in others.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for being constant when everything around me changes. Thank You for giving me a family in You that loves, protects, and never abandons me. Keep me grounded in Your presence as I grieve, heal, and move forward. In Jesus' name, Amen.
